Partnership strengthens health initiatives for the Tiriyó people in the Amazon.
The Lar São Francisco de Assis na Providência de Deus Association, together with the Dieter Morszeck Foundation – Health in the Air, in partnership with the Central Franciscan Mission of Germany, have begun a new cycle of missions that brings medical care to indigenous communities in the Tumucumaque National Park. Represented by Dr. Erik Jennings Simões, the Dieter Morszeck Foundation provides its aircraft for the transport of teams and materials to the Tumucumaque Indigenous Complex, alongside the Tiriyós and Kaxuyana peoples.
The initiative also includes the participation of Expedicionários da Saúde (EDS), an institution with extensive experience in indigenous health. Together, the institutions coordinate actions that combine specialized logistics, humanized care, and a focus on promoting comprehensive care for the communities served.
In the most recent stage, a delegation comprised of representatives from the foundations and friars representing the Fraternity of Saint Francis of Assisi in the Providence of God will be in the Tumucumaque Indigenous Complex. The objective is to conduct a technical assessment of the main local health needs and establish priorities for the next phase of the mission. The information gathered will serve as a basis for organizing the expeditions scheduled for 2026, which should offer specialized care, examinations, surgeries, and ongoing monitoring.
The partnership remains active and strong, seeking to transform realities and guarantee qualified assistance to those living in isolated areas of the Amazon.
